VILLE PIRINEN

Born in Kitee in 1973.
Visual artist studies finished in 2001.
Comics, cartoons, graphic design and music published regularly from the early 1990’s. Been a professional comic artist for the past 15 years or so .
About1000 pages of comics and illustrations published in all kinds of magazines, albums and newspapers, from the biggest Finnish newspapers to small underground prints. Titles include for example: Helsingin Sanomat, NYT-liite, Ilta-Sanomat, Turun Sanomat, Treffi-liite, Suuri Kurpitsa, Sarjari, Sarjainfo, Roope-setä, Karjalainen, Koti-Karjala, Fahrenheit, Dagens Nyheter, Suomen Kuvalehti, Olmi, Like Uutiset, Johnny Kniga kertoo, Disco Fucker, Rumba, Vihreä lanka ja Etelä-Saimaa.

Lots of illustration/graphic design for finnish rock groups like Mokoma, YUP, Kotiteollisuus or Steel Mammoth.

All sorts of different illustration projects for different clients ranging from big international stock market corporations to indie film festivals and noise music happenings.

Works have been in comic –exhibitions in for example Helsinki, Turku, Bryssels, Tokyo, Tampere, Lappeenranta, Stockholm, and Girona.

The curator and a founding member for the finnish artist group Golden Diamond, which has exhibited both in the largest art museums and the smallest underground galleries in Finland

Worked as a teacher / lecturer in comic workshops for kids and adults in various locations and various schools.

Won the Kemi Nordic Comic competition a couple of times and got several other prizes from the same competition during 1992-2002.
