Medallion Motion
This project is a study of movement and gear systems. I was inspired to create this design while working in an oriental hand-made carpets shop. The medallion motif is often used in the finest persian carpet designs, such as Nain. The design houses a simplified planetary gear system that rotates when the outer floral shape is turned manually causing the medallion to come alive. Small wheel bearings allow for smooth movement and flow.
