Sursum is my take on the possibilities of home storage for those who live in smaller homes, whether in the city or not. Sursum uses the space above ones head to store belongings while allowing the lower section to have a secondary function, like a table or shelving.

the industrial aesthetic was inspired by the work of Ron Arad and several other designers who worked to shape the "ad-hoc" design movement, which embraced use of either "found" objects or other industrial pieces to change the way they are viewed.

i believe that by taking a threaded pole out of the scenario of being used in an acro-prop to build a house and using it as a piece of furniture, it creates a nice balance between modern furniture and simple industrial ingenuity.

I also built a full scale prototype by hand, as seen in the pictures. the prototype is make to look like its made from polyprop tubes and ABS, but it is made from flexi-ply and MDF
