Major Project - Final Year BSc (hons) Product Design

The Lotus Shelter is a first response shelter to be used immediately after a natural disaster by both those affected and rescue workers. Four adjustable legs raise the shelter off the ground allowing the shelter to be deployed on top of rubble or on uneven ground, a huge advantage over tents and current shelters which need clear ground before deployment. Being raised off the ground not only allows for rapid deployment but also means the occupants are clear of flood water and water borne diseases which are a major cause of post disaster deaths and health problems.

Constructed from Nylon 6 and Aluminium tubing and weighing no more than 200 Kg the shelter is shipped to location in sections before being simply assembled on site following the clear and simple instructions.
