Koti - Thesis Project 2005 The project objective was to find a new way to keep geographically separated loved ones connected. The idea was not to re-create the feeling of what it was like being with that person, but rather to create a device that allows the users to actually be together despite being physically apart. I wanted to create a physical link between users that would help express emotions and feelings. Providing communication beyond the everyday audio-visual (telephones, camera/video phones, webcams, etc.) and/or text-based (e-mail, messenger, text messaging, etc.) interactions; a more tangible form of communication. I also wanted the device to be something the user could take with them wherever they go and be able to use it anywhere in the world. The solution was not just the device itself, but a new approach in long distance communications.
Shoe Storage Unit - A shoe storage unit that would help save the life of your everyday shoes. Inspired by a draining soap dish, the shelves are in two parts - a tray and a reservoir. Water, snow, salt and mud will drain off the shoes and into the reservoir allowing the shoes to dry properly.
Wiggly Worms - A toy for children based on a system in nature.
Rolo - Rolo was developed after an investigation into the structural properties of paper products. This full scale chair was created from one 250' (long) sheet of cardboard
