One of the firsts tasks given by Armani as design lead was to look through Ruth E. Carter's history of costume design to look for common themes and films that the general public would recognize. This visual study was then sampled for the color treatment of the exhibition as a whole. All of which had been approved by Ruth E. Carter throughout the process of design and creation of the identity of the exhibition itself.
A mockup presented to Ruth E. Carter's team to begin the discussions of how her work could be presented at the entrance to the New Bedford Art Museum and what the presentation of the pieces could be. This was used as the launching point to discuss what pieces of the exhibition would need to be ordered and coordinated to be present and ready for the official opening of the exhibition.

Uncommon Threads: The Works of Ruth E. Carter

The "Uncommon Threads: The Works of Ruth E. Carter" was an exhibition showcasing Mrs.Carter's work throughout her lifetime up to the year of 2021. This project was formed in collaboration with the Ruth E. Carter Team, New Bedford Art Museum, and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. New Bedford Art Museum and the University agreed to offer the opportunity of designing the identity and planning of the exhibition to a selected student group of Senior Graphic Design students via application of portfolios. Armani Marquez-Chaves had been chosen for the project as the design team lead from October of 2020 through May 2021 leading a team of 6 total designers with an academic advisor as support.
