Thanks to the Downtown, Basten Leijh’s thesis project, Bleijh took flight.
The city bike with an original and effective anti-theft solution – the steering wheel acts as a lock, making the bike useless after theft – was marketed by Giant and attracted a lot of global attention.
And now the Downtown is considered one of the icons of Dutch Design.
