Prototype Design with Inventor - This is a prototype design for an One Laptop Per Child XO Laptop. The goal of this charger is to use a clock spring that stores a potential energy as well as serve as a buffer when directly charging.
Physical prototype made from wood and off-the-shelf components.

2008 Design Project

Our Junior Design project was to create a computer charger for kids. My team brainstormed concepts and we settled on a design that would use a mechanical storage device that could have energy added to it from low power.

The handle is turned, charging a clock spring within the cylinder. The handle is locked in place and then the cylinder is released allowing the clock spring to transfer its energy to through a generator.

I was the primary 3D modeler and assisted with the prototype build, lead by another team member.

Our charger performed as expected.
