Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis

Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis is a recurrent urinary tract infection due to the same organism (eg, Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis), which persists in the prostatic fluid. Illustration shows a back 3/4 view of the prostate bordered by the floor of the bladder, the symphysis pubis and the rectum (not shown) with purulent material in the urethra leading to the corpus spongiosum. The soft, tender prostate presents without nodules and chronic infection which is shown with reddish, swollen fibromuscular stroma surrounding the tubuloalveolar glands of the prostate.
