I don't take many pics while I'm making molds for Carbon Fiber products, though I should! This was an exciting project working with my client, a Composites Manufacturer, who's customer needed a replica hood for his Corvette made from Carbon Fiber. Typical tooling process would have dictated a 4-piece mold which was too expensive, and overkill, for the customer who only needed on part, after all. Collaborating with my client we were able to brainstorm a, "splash-mold", approach allowing for minor under-cuts thanks to it's inherent flexibility. We were able to achieve customers expectations on cost as well as reduce overall weight, from original, by 70%.
