In order to better understand how changing different dimensions of the struts would affect the shape and size of the table, we defined three angles that determine the orientation of the strut and derived an equation to divulge their relationship
FEA analysis was performed on 3 initial designs and 14 different combinations of strut angles through a three round selection process
Novel epoxy cardboard composite material was developed to achieve the ideal young's modulus to density ratio within budget
ASTM Bending and Creep tests were performed to determine the performance of 3 layer and 4 layer samples of specially fabricated epoxy cardboard composite material

PopUp Collapsible Table

Worked on a team of three mechanical engineers to design and develop a table which allows the user to easily and in one fluid motion remove it from the furniture-scape of the room. The PopUp Table synthesizes spatial transition technologies adapted from pop-up books with material research to create a light-weight and highly functional furniture essential.
Further information on the optimization of strut angles, design selection, bending and creep testing, and development of composite cardboard epoxy material can be found at the attached link.
