Children's Hospital: Main Floor Renovation

My concept for the children's hospital is "Under the Sea." The main goal when attacking this design challenge was creating a positive atmosphere in what is normally a negative place. I chose to use distraction through my design to turn the space into a temporary get away for the children. The floor when you first walk in resembles planks from a ship which guide you to the reception desk, which is an aquarium itself. The furniture loops through the space organically pulling your eyes to the back wall which encompasses a floor to ceiling aquarium. The flooring turns to a red coral carpet and a separate play area that includes a ship wreck for the children to play in. The walls are textured to mimic sand drifts and the tiles hanging from the ceiling are curved, giving the allusion that you are actually under the water looking up at the surface.
