This project was developed in my Product Development class, where the brief was to design a set of trowels. I chose to reinterpret the assignment through a playful and cultural lens, creating Chili Trowels—a whimsical yet functional tool inspired by the chili pepper, a symbol from my upbringing.
The set is designed with families in mind, encouraging shared gardening experiences where parents and children can participate together. While adults garden with the premium metal version, children can safely play alongside them using the kid-friendly plastic version.
Kid-Friendly Version – Crafted in plastic with a playful, toy-like aesthetic that makes it approachable and safe for children.
Premium Version – Designed in metal with a more refined, sculptural quality for adults who want both functionality and elegance.
Together, the two designs foster interaction between play and practicality, turning gardening into a family-friendly activity that balances fun with function.
