This project was guided by Prof.Keyur Sorathia,IIT Guwahati,the aim was to study the Dhobi (Washer men) community spread across Guwahati, Assam. Understanding the context, their behavior, environment and the processes involved. To Investigate their needs and problems, behaviors and identify opportunity areas and eventually propose a design intervention(s) to ease and support their work.
The methodology to investigate these parameters were Contextual inquiry, through semi-structured one-to-one interview approach. The interview and observations helped us understand the entire washing process , based on which we created the process flow map. This was followed by a Value chain analysis of the entire process, identifying key problems and prioritizing them and further identify possible design directions
