Style : Canadiana
Concept : Bringing nature inside the cottage
Color Scheme : Monochromatic brown hue
Material : Mostly wood and fabric
The purpose of this exercise was to apply the knowledge of kitchen and great room design that I had attained throughout the semester. The challenge of this project was that I had to decorate the window seat and the passage leading to it interestingly. To make the window seat intriguing, I decided to plant birch trees along the passage and to decorate the window seat look like a hut while other items in this room look quite modern. The concept covers the entire space was to bring nature inside the cottage. As I observed Canadian nature through sketching on the ideation phase, I selected stone-like pillows, a moose picture, and plaid patterns to meet the concept. I also applied a trough sink on the kitchen countertop for a casual use. I employed folding windows for the dining zone so the users can appreciate the view.

Upon entering this place, the users will be invited to the window seat with its cozy and warm look. To make the window seat look like a hut, I employed a gable roof under the ceiling and hung the bulb pendant lightings.

The stone-like pillows were chosen for the living room area. This was planned especially for kids.

The wooden panels used for the floor also used for the wall of the living room. The moose picture and birch tree art work were picked to enhance Canadiana style.
ELEVATION [D]
Channel style cabinet doors were used for the kitchen so that the kitchen looks simple. I purposely kept the kitchen design simple so that the entire space does not look too busy.
