Project Valiant - To improve working in the construction industry in terms of health and safety aswell as its enviroment, the project looked at the situation holistically. By doing this along with using Design Management techniques the project put forward 4 areas that design could improve- welfare facillities, identity, image and personal safety equipment. ANTI-VIBRATION HAMMER - The A.V.H. was designed to conteract the effect that vibration has on jack hammer operators hands. Vibration White Finger is one of these side efects and leads to premanent paralysis of the victims hands. With a grant from Scottish Enterprise and the help of UXL, a Scottish Design Consultancy, the A.V.H. was developed. By transferring the vibration to the users larger leg muscles it does less damage and allows longer working times. Patent Pending.
ALL TERRAIN GENERATOR - Supplies a portable power source in confined or remote areas. By combining a 4 stroke engine with high torque electric hub motors and military battery cells the A.T.G. can drive outside while battery charging.
Then when the A.T.G. enters a building or service area the hub motors change power source to the batteries ensuring no fumes are released into the air. With two 110v sockets and room in the back the A.T.G. is versatile vehicle and power source tackling many causes of workplace accidents.
