Dale, dale, dale...

Dale, dale, dale ('da-ley, da-ley, da-ley')…’ is a chair inspired in a traditional Mexican piñata. Taking the concept of smashing something to obtain the goods inside, this chair was created as a performance piece, where the user must throw themselves into the object to turn it into a colourful chair. The chair was created with the traditional papier-mâché technique used in piñatas, using a core of cardboard covered with colour tissue paper and a special mix of natural PVA (‘engrudo’).

This chair is aimed to recreate the fun and magic moment of smashing a piñata with a twist, as when you see it for the first time it is only a blob with no specific shape of a chair, the materials and build help the user discover that some action must happen, inviting them to jump into the object to land on a cushioned interior.
