Convexity - This exercise, completed in my Spring semester of Sophomore year is a study of positive form. The form is carved from a solid block of plaster.

Attention is paid to the 3-dimensionality of the form, it should reach out into space in an interesting way, with dynamic axis'. The physical feel of the forms and how they flow together is especially important to the exercise.

3 Dimensial Design

A course of study unique to Pratt Institute. Beginning in the sophomore level, Industrial Design students are given excercises dealing with abstraction as a method of honing the eye.

Beginning with abstract compositions, solids, lines, planes, students deal with form with attention to a visual hierarchy, axial composition, contrast and complements.

By junior year, skills begin to be applied to products viewed through the lens of form and abstraction.
