Book Design- Bonsai Tree - Magnification- The subject of the book is bonsai trees. It is designed with this idea in mind, how a tree is shaped in a little space. Since bonsai is a Japanese art the book has Japanese folds containing beautiful patterns inside the fold. One would want to look up at a big tree but you can't, the type and illustrations mimic that same feeling when they get too close to the gutter of the book.
Da Vinci Code - Da Vinci - Cracking the Code. This book promotes a typeface called Da Vinci. The typeface has a backward style which is taken straight from Leonardo's hand writing. Some people believe that he wrote backwards because he didn't want anyone to read his notes- it was a code. The book is based on cracking the codes in his work and also modern version of codes such as HTML codes. This book uses a lot of Leonardo Da Vinci's art work in a modern context.
Science -an art form - Science as an art form. A monthly magazine shows the beauty of science. It shows us interesting aspects of microbiology, featuring drawings and diagrams. It also shows Galileo's and Leonardo's sketches and takes a perspective of science treated like a beautiful piece of art. It makes a statement that art is everywhere.
Poster-Hand Drawn - Pantone- 3 poster series. The posters show an Indian wedding procession when seen in series. The idea is that different colors are associated with culture and heritage. Indian weddings are a festival of colors and they show the beauty of color. India being a diverse country, three different styles (henna, batik and block prints) were chosen representing different parts of India using appropriate colors.
Observing the big blue planet - Alien- Observing the big blue planet. Concept of the book is someone else looking at us and calling us aliens. So the visuals in the book are the top views of things. The book refers to crop circles, our every day symbols and alien perceptions of them. It asks questions about everyday life. It gives a feel of outside force is observing us.
