The intent of this project was to design a biodegradable watering-can that possessed a sculptural and organic form to fit in an indoor setting. The normal function of the design offers the ability to reach high hanging areas. The role of this project was to enlarge the existing market of contemporary watering cans and to provide a new niche within the market targeted at sustainability. The product was intended for a mass market and would be catered to the general public with an interest in environmentally-friendly products. The proposed retail price was $35 to compete with existing offerings of similar functionality. A single model of one distinct size was proposed for production to save upfront costs for molding. Various finish colours were slotted to be available. The product was designed to adhere to CSA, EU Ecolabel, and China Environmental Label standards for sustainability. The product was planned to be shipped in bundles, which allowed for the absence of any packaging.
