Destino Paper Dress

This work was a collaboration between Illustrator Alisa Rojas and I. We set out to create a look completely out of paper, inspired by the 1945 collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali. “Destino,” the short animation they created, is full of flowing movements, striking contrasts, and surreal imagery. We attempted to capture these elements in a well-fitting garment that demonstrated Alisa’s illustration skills, and my passion for non-traditional materials.

The dress is made entirely of paper, poster board and Tyvek. The hat is made of buckram, paper and gaffer’s tape. It was displayed as part of the 2013 Art Institute of Portland Fashion Show, and in the Steven Goldman Gallery in May of 2013.
