Galaxy Lightbulb

Galaxy Lightbulb is a collaboration between Madison Gross and Ken Macalino. A package design for LED light bulbs, this concept also functions as a lamp. A carefully placed inset at the bottom holds the light bulb in place, while allowing it to screw into light fixtures. This was designed to augment the packaging with additional use, while encouraging a sustainable practice. The motif of space challenges the cliche use of nature when advertising eco-friendliness. Photography handled by Alexis Hagestad.

This design won third place in the Highcon: 3D Paper Design Challenge, hosted by the SCAD Collaborative Learning Center. Galaxy Lightbulb was also selected to be featured on Images Publishing's publication on sustainable packaging, Eco Packaging Now.
