Corsetry and the Victorian Feminine Ideal- Senior Undergraduate Thesis
Published in the Wagner College Undergraduate Journal, my senior honors thesis, "Corsetry and the Victorian Feminine Ideal," explored the relationship between common misconceptions of oppressive corsetry to the way they were utilized by Victorian women to construct a safe and respectable femininity. As a part of the thesis, two corsets were constructed using historical reproduction patterns. These corsets were machine sewn.
