Electric Motorcycle

This was by far the most time consuming project I have been assigned. Most of it has to do with the material we were using for the model: automotive clay. This was assigned in my Equipment Design class my junior year. The assignment was to design an 8th scale model of an electric scooter. At the beginning, the class was split up into groups. one group created the wooden frame, which would be considered the battery space that we could build around. My group built the full scale model which I am sitting in one of my first pictures. We also made 8th scale manikins to be tested on the bikes throughout the design process. During research, I was drawn to the Vespa style scooter. I decided to target the 50th percentile women in a city setting because of the look of Vespas. The body is made out of a wood frame, clay body, aluminum wire for the handle bars and axles, and the wheels are painted yellow foam. The cover photo is the final turned in model.
