Housewares: Jar Opening
This was a project in my Consumer Project Design class my junior year. We were entered into an International Housewares competition for the project. I had decided to focus on people with all ability levels, especially elders. This jar holder makes jar opening an easier task by holding the jar in place so the user can focus on unscrewing the lid. It has two ways to be used: One handed approach and a two handed approach for extra torque to unscrew the lid. Following my sketches is a Solidworks rendering showing the five parts to be injected molded. The final model is yellow foam, spray painted with grip-like texture to keep the jar from rotating.
