J Con is an anime, cosplay and Japanese culture event that took place on the 9th of November 2019. I designed the new mascots for the event as well as posters, fliers and social media content.
There are 5 mascots in total called the ‘J Con Kodama’, kodama being tree spirits in Japanese folklore. Each colour represents a different aspect of the event, gaming, anime, Japanese Culture, J Con special events and Cosplay. They are used for promotion as well as used for way-finding around the event.
The website www.jconireland.com is powered by wordpress. It uses a simple layout with tabs at the top of the page for easy accessibility. The front page consists of a small video of last years event to let visitors to the website see what the event is like. J Con Ireland is on Facebook, Instagram, andTwitter. Generally the same posts are posted on each platform. We rely heavily on image based posts to optimise our engagement on each post.
The colours of the mascots are used across the timetable and the map for the event.  Eg. Gaming events and areas are coloured blue
