This hands-on environmental education center focuses on the plants, animals and habitats of Polk County, Florida. Our task was to add to and expand upon their few existing exhibits and create a more complete and interactive story. We converted an unused storage space into a bright discovery lab for exhibits that converts for crafts and demonstrations. We added historical exhibits to add attention to a theater space and added four new scenic diorama habitats to the main gallery. Our big focus was on interpretation, adding bright graphics and high-and-low tech interactives to bring their story to life.

Michael Lewis and I were messing around with paper and wire to come up with a centerpiece for the CROW wildlife center. This is the final version of the maquette used by the shop to build it.
The wire and paper model became this stunning multimedia sculpture highlighting all of the animal species treated at the CROW wildlife hopsital in Sanibel Island, FL. Metal sculpture by Mario Schambon. Multimedia integration by Jason Butcher and Michael Lewis.
Great Smoky Mountain National Park is one of the busiest in the country. Their lobby was crowded and their existing museum was hidden and under utilized. A new space plan was devised, tearing out the central wall and creating an new information desk and feature wall and adding a glass partition and entry to the museum. New graphics, interpretation and site information, as well as a changeable gallery in the theater lobby increases the staffs ability to service to many more guests at a time, with a more modern and welcoming feel.
