The bathroom is a part of a larger project of the House of Georges Perec, studied by a group of INSIDE Interior Architecture (enterinside.nl). Project is a result of research on a chance incorporation within the designing process in the studio SPACE by Anne Holtrop. The idea of a dispersed house was developed by a french writer George Perec (viz. the book ´Species of spaces and other pieces´). Although the original house was set in Paris, we have transferred the idea into the Hague. As a team of seven, we have developed a set of rules (following our previous research and texts studies) which were stated in a way allowing a continuous influence of chance. Every person of the group was given one particular place in the Hague, to develop one part of the common house. This development- independent enough- was shaped by some basic rules, incorporating the element of chance and tying all the spaces together into one coherent house. *picture by Nina van Hoogstraten*
Perec´s house: the BATHROOM (Mallemolen 53D/53E, den Haag, the Netherlands) - Mallemolen street is a part of the ´sand area´of the Hague. Street itself is particularly green, calm and pieceful. The space for the bathroom is a distinctively narrow space wedged in between of two residential buildings. However the space is long and high enough to accomodate a full-featured bathroom, if some specifics are accepted.

Casting proces - _space in between buildings functions as a mould for the structure of the bathroom _the object is casted from concrete, poured in layers into the space. _I decided to allow the inner shapes to be partially independent on my conscious will and planning. Outer shape of the object is formed by the firm panelling, contrary in inner spaces the rigidness is loosened. Interiors are defined by paper piles and poured concrete partly defines the spaces by leaking and dripping.
materials - 1_waste paper (as a moulding material in reference to Perec´s occupation and passion in writing) 2_existing brick facades of adjacent houses 3_concrete 4_glass 5_wood 6_porcelain
