Hammer with Collated Nail Dispenser

My mad scientist project for the past six years. Came up with the idea and just couldn't put it down until I figured it out. 11 completely unique functional variations later I got it to work in a cost effective, manufacturable, and marketable form! I wrote the patent myself (and had a lawyer fix it) and then set out to sell it. and then I sent it to all the major tool companies in the US. There was major interest from two of the big ones, I got a big offer to purchase the IP from one, but then the person I was working with left the company right before signing, their department was purchased and downsized, and after a year of slow discussion they retracted their offer. At the end of it my provisional patent has expired and I let it go. Glad to have tried and succeeded in many ways, here's to the next one!

  • This is such a waste of opportunity! Don't quit! At least do a short run and sell it on amazon or ebay, then shoot for a deal with another company, or maybe even try to get on shark tank! It's frustrating to look at this and then read your story.

  • @Shawn Bryant Sorry for your frustration sir! And thank you for the well wishes : ) You may be surprised by the cost of tooling to manufacture this type of thing, Complexity and cost drive manufacturers to have a pretty high minimum order quantity.. a short run would cost more $ than I'm currently willing to pay for a house (in loan form!) I showed it to every tool manufacturer that would look at it and they all said no in the end. Personally I'm not willing to go into that much debt to risk producing something that experienced companies have no interest in (unfortunately.) Here's to the future with more good ideas for both of us! You win some you lose some, so you make more

  • And why can’t you make it a commercial product? Superb work; though I’d like to see a video of one in action.
