Tabletop Erotica - This team project evolved from turning away from normal tabletop situations (like family meals or a cup of coffee with friends) and instead tuning into things more private and powerful. Myself and my partner used slipcasting and hand-glazing to develop bowls, vases, and champagne buckets that even today's classier "Mommy Madonna" would be interested in.
Messenger Bag for Women - This was a project addressing a gender issue for messenger bags. Based on research done about women's physical comfort, as well as their general thoughts about how they psycologically felt while wearing a messenger bag, I concluded that some changes needed to be made. I modified the strap, shifting the way women carry the bag's weight and gave it padding. I also revised the way the strap runs through the center of a woman's chest and made it more comfortable, utilitarian and less awkward-looking.
Art Show Invitation - The gallery owner told me to put a map of the event location someplace on the invite. "Ok," I said. Here's what I did.
Tipsy Penguin - A simple presentation board excercise is much more fun when I let myself invent new products! Here I thought of a childrens' toy (you tip it, it rocks back and forth), that also has a beak adults can use as a bottle opener. This should be at the top of your Christmas lists, people.
Jemi Draw! - This is a board game I invented with 2 other designers. It's a "battle sketch" game for anyone, but especially people that carry around sketchbooks (you know who you are). It teaches you to look at the non-obvious elements of material things around you, so that when you're designing you can approach your process in new ways. We did the packaging and logos for this project, too.
