Station House 2014 / District Area 4 (DA4) - 162 Unit Townhome with a commercial space.
The Train Station was rebuilt in 1912, deem as a historic landmark in West Oakland in the 50’s. Today, it’s viewed an iconic symbol amongst the first generations of electric Railway.
Inspired by the history, Engine, Frame, Link, Move, and Nest, a series of developed concepts used to reflect the mechanical expression of a train locomotive. Each carrying an architectural expression true to it’s name, by form, volume, height, connections and flow of the design. A collaborative effort produced a well defined plan of function and space to cater the future uses and development of West Oakland.
