Replica Props: Fili's Swords from The Hobbit
These replica swords were constructed from blue insulation foam and 3D printed elements with EVA foam details. The handles were modeled in Blender, printed, sealed, and hand painted and weathered. The blades were hand-shaped and sealed. All painted with acrylic and gauche.
This prop is meant to be a replica and was crafted to resemble the movie prop as closely as possible. Everything from the forms to the paint job was closely researched. The Actor Dean O’Gorman himself saw photos of this sword in progress and said it “looks perfect.” Needless to say, I died a little.
