Wooden Scale model - this model i made using layered super-wood (mdf) turned on a lathe with some dremil work following that. The paint is is standard canned lacquer due to time constraints

machine grown model - the machine we have at the university is a plastic extruding machine with a 0.3 mm tolerance. It uses backing plastic that's a pain to get off. I really wish we had a laser sintering machine.

Kids Egg Timer and other Googly Products

The design itself is an idea I generated while at University and is something that is focussed on kids but could also be considered a fun toy for the kitchen. Just like the Alessi range of products I'm trying to instil a sense of fun in my designs. The Googly Egg Timer is still a mechanical egg timer but instead of a fiddly dial it has a large cartoon style body to give the kid something to grip. The base is also weighted to make the timer stand upright, similar to a bop bag. Googly with his cute approachable face and basic functionality really helps kids understand the concept of time and timing their actions.

If you would like to see him in reality make sure you visit my indiegogo campaign and sponsor the project.
