Medtronic Kyphon Inflation Syringe
The Kyphon® Inflation Syringe (KIS) is used to restore fractured and compressed vertebra during minimally invasive surgeries. This is accomplished by an inflatable balloon that is attached at the end of the syringe. After a hole is drilled into the affected vertebra, the syringe is inserted and the balloon inflated to expand the disk with up to 700 PSI of pressure. The expanded cavity is then filled with bone cement to restore the vertebra to a normal shape.
