Old Guisseppe print I believe. We had to copy an inspiring work of art in like medium.
Detail Study of potted plants. This was done from life. No photos. No markers. Just me, a plant, and a bottle of india ink with a copper Quill pen. It taught me patience atleast, and how to stick with a project through completion.
Some "Masters Studies" copying the paintings and sketches of the masters with graphite pencil.
I really like how this image comes off the page, and stands in contrast to the almost childlike drawn bounding box behind it. This was done in HB and B pencils. Canvas drapery still life. The class that day had been cancelled, so the room was empty, only I never found out, So I ended up sitting in the studio by myself for most of the afternoon doing this drawing. My product design sketching is so fast and pressed for a given reaction or purpose, that I have almost forgotten how therapeutic it is to sit and do something like this....
Drainage plan for proposed masonry at an estate.
Presentation sketch and line drawings of the proposed work, showing not only an eye for asthetics and form, but a mind behind the design as well
Stippling assignment. Again we were given a quill pen, a few finer nibs, and that same bottle of india ink, and told to "Draw whatever we wanted, but It had better show substantial effort". This was what I chose to do. A branch of Japanese Lanterns my mom had extending from a mason jar in early November.
Part of a sheet showing the parts of an object in several views. I chose this old industrial scotch tape dispenser I had.
I really love how this high contrast B pencil sketch came out. You can really tell it is made out of metal, yet it is still soft and warm.
First 2D design class I ever had at OSU, we were allowed to use a ruler to mark out the three inch squares, but each box had to be filled with only STRAIGHT lines, with no straight edge to aid us, and regaurdless of our designs, the individual lines could not touch each other, and each composition had to represent some aspect of visual communication, such as divergence, circular, repetitious, tension, undulating, etc. etc. It hung on the wall at the student show next to a girl who used a ruler for the whole thing... story of my life :)

Traditional Art

I studied (and recieved my first real art instruction under Heath Bartel, Creator of the 21st Century Landscape series of paintings, A lot of these were from that first class, others are some stuff I did on my own and found in various sketchbooks.
