The Design:
I've always wanted to design a toy in the style of toys that I grew up with, which ultimately led me to enjoy making things.
I settled on a paper plane launcher as it invoked the most nostalgia.
The design was done in CAD.
I designed it so that it could be die cut out of a sheet of foam and had to be assembled like a puzzle.
This design also allowed it to be delivered flat-packed to make shipping cheaper.
The Fabrication:
The toy is diecut out of a dense, closed-cell foam.
The diecutting process is similar to how jigsaw puzzles are made.
