Laser cut layers are assembled by hand.
Laser cut from a versa laser these layers of cardboard are combined as slip covers for shelving brackets as an innovative design aspect to the space.
Makerbot Replicator2 install for 3D Maryland's space. These printers are capable of rapidly creating prototypes for new and growing business and swag used to market this new lab.
Prints from the Makerbot Replicator 2 are capable of functional movement.
The Replicator 2 works in a simplified fashion extruding molten plastic into layers that build upon each other to construct the 3D model the user selected.
Install of one of the first machines to be housed at 3D Maryland
Scanning technologies are also used when working in an innovative lab these processes are used in business from dentistry to clothing fabrication. They have to potential to build upon and remodel previous designs of objects. This can be useful technology to be trained in for growing businesses for more efficient practices.

As an innovative 3D printing project, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman announced plans for a new additive manufacturing lab called 3D Maryland. Lead by Director Jan Baum, the lab would be constructed to help business growth and transform existing companies through innovative technology. To insure the success of the lab members must stay up to date with the development of innovative technology thus providing the most efficient advances to those interested in the advantages offered. This lab will be designed for prototyping by user groups and also provide resources from other Maryland rapid technology resources. As an intern under director Baum’s guidance, this experience offers advancement of ones abilities to use this technology and an expansion of technology knowledge as it is constantly in a state of change.
