Nita Thompson

The objective was to create a specimen book based off one of the approved typographers on our list. My solution was to use Avant Garde - a typeface created by Herb Lubalin and Tom Carnase. The typeface was based off of the logo "Avant Garde" that was originally created by Herb Lubalin. Since the typeface was created in the late 60s- early 70s, I decided to based the book on that era. I wanted to show how this font was deemed "a head of its time" but also how overly used it was. I I incorporated songs from that era that were popular during that time.
