The Game Masters logo was created for a podcast and new Facebook community hosted by YouTube's Gamer Ahmer (Brandi Ahmer) and Stephen Heywood from YouTube's The Tech Buzz.
It was asked that the mark be simple and have a retro feel. In order to achieve that, the shape of the Super Nintendo controller was the inspiration of the main shape with modifications to imply that controller but be derivative enough to be separate from its iconic design. The main typeface is a softer edged, more contemporary font to ground the mark in today; and that is accented with Bauhaus for the word "the" for the accent of retro. The colors are reminiscent of the arcades from the 1980s and 1990s to drive home feeling of nostalgia.
