I did more sketching on this project then any other during my time at school, but I didn't want to show all of them (many were Cocktail Napkin-Style sketches used to figure out how I was going to build it); This is just the essence of my sketching, some exploratory sketches and the 6 "Final" concepts (top)
The starting point for the final construction was a Kelly Green 1972 Steelcase Bassick Steno office chair, which was purchased for $2 at the Stout Surplus store. I re-upholstered the seat cushion (with a little help from a Fashion major who knew how to sew) and built the entire frame from scratch
Total build time: Around 120 hours, spread over a 2 week span
Fun fact: This image was used on a Stout billboard, so there's my Andy Warhol-promised 15 minutes of fame

This was the result of a semester long Furniture Design class; I originally was looking to do a kinetic chair, and "Steno Revisited" was the final result of that simple premise
