ikea – home furnishings - CHALLENGE: IKEA the name has achieved what it set out to do when it was established many years ago. It is today a business idea that offers a wide range of home furnishings with good design and function at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them. It was fairly easy to see why their current logo did not portray what they were saying. During the course of my research I realized that IKEA gives you the freedom to create your own space, environment and experience. The concept became very clear at this point. The new logo had to portray the lively and the humanistic aspect of what IKEA stood for.
ascent – yoga journal - CHALLENGE: A print magazine, Ascent focuses on spirituality and yoga. It most certainly lives up to its tag line of ”Yoga, for an inspired life“. The magazine a quarterly uses the lens of social action to focus on spirituality. The magazine has captivating prose, but no visual poetry to draw the attention of a prospective reader. One reason for choosing this magazine. The article I chose to redesign dealt with celibacy and the challenge with the redesign was simple yet complex. How would I make it appear ”Oh so sensuous“ yet discuss the matter at length.
3clicks restaurant - CHALLENGE: A unique restaurant both in concept and design, was the theme of this project. A restaurant in Los Angeles serving Californian fusion cuisine, where singles can connect. To help them connect, I aimed cameras at the tables, and installed monitors on the tables. People used the monitors to converse and connect with soul mates or with anyone who is willing to talk to them.
