Boston University Museum

Interior Studio V Spring 2013

OBJECTIVE: Design a new Mid-Century American Art Museum for Boston University in the former Cadillac Showroom on Commonwealth Avenue, which was designed by Albert Kahn.

CONCEPT: Bringing together the mindsets of Albert Kahn & the Mid-Century American Arts. Emphasizing Kahn’s open showroom, skylight, and ramp while incorporating the expression of the artists into the space. Albert Kahn designed in an efficient, functional, and practical way. He incorporated flexibility, penetration of light and openness into his buildings. The Mid-Century Artists worked in quite the opposite way using action, freedom, and energy as their driving forces.
