Tudor Street Co-housing

Interior Studio III Fall 2011

OBJECTIVE: Design a 21 unit co-housing complex in two adjacent buildings in the Cambridgeport area of Cambridge, MA. The clients are senior citizens that have decided to live together because they share a passion for the arts. There will be 14 units for couples, and 7 units will be singles.

CONCEPT: Maximizing the intimacy of the space between these two buildings allows for the clients to feel like they have a real backyard in the city. Connecting the buildings on the side closest to public transportation creates a “facade” where these artists and educators can show their work to people in the surrounding neighborhood.
