Aug 2013 - Aug 2014 (1 year)
An exciting and interesting position within the open innovation team, working on packaging innovation as my primary role, with a secondary role looking at general product innovation. My role was to take innovative solutions and adapt them to make them suitable for the brand or position within the product offering that Boots provide.
Being a part of the open innovation team also gave me many opportunities to explore other subject areas, through from biological methods and projects to the different materials available and how they can be used to package items correctly; these were great experiences because it allowed me to find my interests within research and explore them further throughout my time there.
I also had many opportunities to progress myself as a person through the Year in Industry program, including coaching sessions and learning more about how I work and who I am in a professional environment.

Playworker (After school club assistant)
Chase Bridge Primary School
Jun 2011 - Sep 2012 (1 year 3 months)
As a playworker at Lions after school club, I was in charge of ensuring the children in my care were happy and safe at all times. It was a very rewarding position as I found that engaging with the children was interesting and fun. I helped register the children at the club, assisting to ensure none of them were unaccounted for, then made sure they were able to access a snack and a drink. For the rest of the afternoon session I helped to plan activities with the children in mind dependant, most importantly, on what they would want to do.
Oct 2008 - Sep 2011 (2 years 11 months)
When I first joined the branch in 2008, I worked as an assistant on checkouts. This involved scanning and taking payment for the customers shopping, and selling goods such as tobacco and lottery tickets from the counters. I was also relied on to cash up tills at the end of the day and ensure the money was safely delivered to the cash office. In 2011, I moved to the new section Operations, which turned out to be a more rewarding position as I was given more responsibilities and was able to extend my assistance to the rest of the shop. These responsibilities included reducing stock, checking, ordering and replacing shelf edge tickets, undertaking stock counts and changing the promotional layouts as and when was needed.
