Prometheus Award Winner - 13 hand carved links form a roller chain of Cedar
Since its conception in 1879, the roller chain has remained basically unchanged due to its impressive 98% power transfer efficiency. Combining my technical background and my passion for aesthetic design, "Links" suggests beauty in that which is commonly industrial. The fully articulating chain is made entirely from red oak, an impractical material choice. The manipulated scale and the incomplete forms suggest a continuation to something larger.
