Rubik's Chair - poster - As a submission to the 2011 APMR design contest for avant-garde small furniture, this chair is inspired by Erno Rubik's snake toy. Like the toy it has the ability to shape shift. In a future where living space is limited, this kind of product would help you convert spaces. A chair at the dinner table, a bench for 2 friends to share (with a magazine holder), o hipster lounge, or a bed for an overnight guest. It is what the future needs and what today's design delivers.
Rubik's Chair - details - The chair is built out of seven modules, each connection rotating individually. This allows the chair to take several different shapes. The distance and angels of the cuts between the parts have been carefully calculated so that the specific shapes taken can serve different tasks. Each module has a metallic joint, wooden structure and foam covering. Then a fabric cover which can be changed or cleaned comes on top. Different covers can make the chair unique, using strong colors or patterns.
