DIP competition 2012

My entry for the Design Innovation Plastics competition 2012. The brief was to design something for someone that was less able than myself, so I started off by researching Alzheimers as it was quite topical at the time. While researching I came across the sentence 'Sufferers can get a loss of mobility and can be more likely to bump into & drop things', which was the inspiration for my product. I designed a glove aimed at people who suffer from arthritis. While the user is moving, the glove remains flexible. However, if the user holds their chosen hand position for a few seconds, the glove hardens to support the natural shape of the hand.
