Candy Grinder Wand

3D Printed in ABS plastic; acrylic tubing; O-ring; pepper grinder components.
2012
3.5" x 2.5" x 12"

The inspiration for this piece was a desire to design a quirky alternative to a pepper grinder - one that was intended to grind candy instead, and that was also functional as a toy wand. In the model, small hard candies are inserted into the cake form at the top of the wand. When the cake form is turned, the candies are ground into small colorful pieces that cascade down the spinning internal track and ultimately sprinkle out of the small holes at the base of the wand. An alternative housing for the pre-existing pepper grinder mechanism was engineered into the chameleon's head.
