The Transparent Eyeball (table lamp), Spring 2012
The transparent eyeball is a table lamp inspired by the cells, molecules, and nerves that make up most living things. It acts as a reminder to appreciate the natural world that we continually distract ourselves away from. Ralph Waldo Emerson, known for coining the term 'transparent eyeball' said that every object rightly seen can unlock a new faculty of the soul and that becoming a transparent eyeball posits a vision wherein the eye sloughs off its body and egotism, merging with what it sees. This light serves as a reminder to honor this way of seeing and a reminder of what makes and connects us all as living beings.
