HALO

With only a single prototype in hand I coordinated, designed and was heavily involved in the fabrication of 12 emitters and 8 receivers for the 2012 ICFF. Trial and error were critical to create the most efficient lamp with the maximum brightness for the show. I personally laid out and assembled every circuit board for the system.

Halo is a dynamic example of the potential future uses of wireless power technology. The lamps were a very successful contribution to the Humanscale booth which I also designed to showcase the prototypes.

Operating by way of tuned frequencies the LED ring receives a signal from an emitter, hidden from sight within the wall. A user may remove the ring from its hook and maintain power transfer to the LEDs. The brightness of the LED output is entirely based on the proximity to the receiver/wall.
